The Tamworth Musical Society has been providing musical theatre for the people of Tamworth and the surrounding district since 1888. Two major productions are staged each year in May and October/November providing amateur theatrical experience on stage, in orchestras and behind the scenes for a large number of people. The Society is open to all people who want to have this experience - performers are chosen from auditions for each production, whereas all other jobs are open to volunteers.

The Tamworth Musical Society is a strictly amateur society and does not pay any member for services in a production. As well as the Actors, the Society needs the services of Directors, Musical Directors, Stage Managers and Crew, Set Builders and Scenic Artists, Wardrobe, Make Up, Hairdressers, Sound Engineers and assistants, Lighting Designers and operators for the console and follow spots and Front of House staff - sometimes this can add up to 100 people for a large production.
